Sadie is now staying at Meredith’s house. She asks Mer about Lexie and what she thinks about her being Sadie’s new BFF. Meredith warns her that Lexie was raised right and probably had smiley face posters up on her wall.
At the hospital, the interns are giving one of their own an epidural. When Sadie arrives, she tells Lexie that Mer called her a priss. Lexie, being offended, decides to “show” Meredith, and suggests they take out his appendix. He refuses, but Sadie offers hers up, as long as she can take someone else’s out too!
Izzie thinks she is imagining Denny, but he wants to prove to her he’s real by doing something they never got to do while he was alive. They make LOUD love and Mer assumes she’s with Alex, until she sees Alex in the hallway. He brushes it off as Izzie just going “solo” and offers to join her, but she tells him she’s feeling sick and is going to go back to bed. This is getting strange with Denny……
A sleepwalking patient punches Callie in the nose, breaking it. She in turn breaks down in front of Mark, and he promises to keep having sex with her whenever she wants, once her nose heals. His teenage daughter thinks it’s her fault he’s sleepwalking, and tries to take care of her dad every night because he takes such good care of her in the daytime.
In outpatient surgery, Lexie has second thoughts about doing the appendectomy. Sadie makes the first incision on herself and urges them to get going, and if they can’t handle it, they should leave. One of the interns does leave, and is on edge all night.
Sadie’s appendix appears to be inflamed, and the interns begin to worry. Cut to Lexie running to Mer for help, and one of the interns frantically working on Sadie who is now under general anesthesia and wearing an oxygen mask!
Mer and Christina arrive, who instruct one of the interns to get Bailey and tell her there’s an emergency. Miranda talks Christina and Meredith through the surgery and Sadie should be in the clear.
After news travels through the hospital, George approaches Lexie asking her why she didn’t come to him for advice. She tells him that this was the one thing she’s done that wasn’t about getting him to notice her and walks off. The other interns tell him that Lexie is in love with her and that he’s been blind this whole time.
In the chief’s office, he praises Christina and Lexie for jumping in to help, and actually calling Bailey for help as well. Lexie barges in, thinking they are getting in trouble and tells the Chief that she should have listened when Christina told her to shut it down the day before. The chief is furious and takes Christina out of the running for the solo surgery.
Mer is even more mad at Christina for not telling her what the interns were doing. Christina fights back saying that Mer didn’t have her back when she was being repremanded.
The residents are left to scold their interns. They are all put on probation and Alex tells them they have lost his respect and that of the chief’s. One intern snips that Alex still has respect for Izzie Stevens and she killed a man! Alex goes at him and tells him that she was trying to save a man’s life, and they almost killed a friend for fun!
Bailey and Callie talk in the clinic and Miranda admits she’s tired. Callie agrees.
Hunt shows up at Christina’s doorstep, finally able to catch his words, and tells Christina she’s beautiful.
Derek brings Lexie back to Meredith’s place to stay partly because he thinks Mark is going to hit on her, and Meredith asked him to keep Mark’s “Little Sloan” away from “Little Grey”.
Alex tells Izzie that he can handle her mess and that if she wants to end things, that’s cool, but she’s going to have to break up with him because he’s not going anywhere. Izzie looks at “Denny” and says I’m Sorry, I can’t…….and goes into Alex’s room.

Christina wakes up MerDer talking about Hahn being gone. Soon after, Meredith’s friend Sadie (Melissa George) is at the door asking for “Death”. Christina is offended that she’s here because she and Meredith (Death) have a special bond. It turns out Sadie is a new intern at SGH. Christina gives her hell since it’s her first day.
The interns continue to practice skills on themselves, moving on to suturing. Christina mentions to Meredith that she thinks Lexie is cutting herself and Meredith confronts Lexie. Lexie denies it and tells the interns they should keep it low key for a couple of days. Sadie disagrees and cuts herself with a scalpal.
Meredith tells Derek to make sure Sloan keeps his “little Sloan” away from “Little Grey”, meaning Lexie. She’s worried that in her fragile state Sloan will hurt her.
Speaking of hurt, Callie is a wreck since Hahn left her without saying goodbye. She wants a big surgery that will take all day. To her luck, a trauma comes in. A homeless man was trapped in a garbage truck, and his femur is lodged in his clavical. His leg is completely shattered and Callie is on board to build his bones with titanium. Unfortunately, the patient dies on the table and Callie breaks down. Christina found out about Callie and Hahn, and stays to comfort her with Mark.
Hunt is experiencing some mad PPD. He is having trouble concentrating and when Christina comes up behind him at the bar, he freaks out. In a rage, he proceeds to make out with her hard core, and then Christina walks away………..not sure where this relationship is headed.
Bailey is assigned to a new Cardio Surgeon for the day - Dr. Dixon, who is “a little off”. She is an excellent surgeon and Bailey is supposed to woo her to stay at SGH. The patient is a Navaho Indian who believes he is being haunted by the ghost of the person who gave him a heart. When Dr. Dixon removes the donor heart, the patient’s original heart starts beating on it’s own again after 6 years! Dr. Dixon tells Dr. Bailey that she doesn’t like SGH because she knows when she’s being insulted.
Izzie is being haunted by Denny, still. She can’t admit it to Alex, who begs her to trust in him so he can help her. She is asked to be removed from Dr. Dixon’s case because the patient doesn’t want any more ghosts in his operating room than he’s already got. Denny tells Izzie that he’s real and that if she would just touch him she’d know. She refuses, and tells Denny Goodbye. She has Alex burn the sweater she made for him in hopes that he will leave. But, he’s still there. She finally touches him and they embrace and kiss! I’m not sure where this storyline is going either, but I miss Denny. I wish he hadn’t died ![]()
Bye Bye Dr. Hahn!!!

Grey’s writer Shonda Rhimes has decided to “degay” the show. Brooke Smith, who plays Dr. Erica Hahn on the show is being written out. All of the gay storylines are being downplayed.
Newcomer Melissa George will no longer be cast as a lesbian love interest between Callie and Hahn either.
This past Thursday was Smith’s last appearance on the show, and it ended pretty abruptly. There was no mention of her leaving in the storyline.

Meredith keeps McDreamy up all night while talking on the phone to Christina about her mother’s diaries. Derek tells Sloan to sleep with Christina so he can get some rest. Mark tries his best moves on her, and she is oblivious to them all day long. After admitting that he’s been hitting on her all day, she laughs in his face!
Meredith and Izzie are assigned to Hahn’s service and soon realize they are working with the patient who’s heart Izzie stole for Denny. She starts seeing Denny everywhere, and having the patient in Denny’s old room isn’t helping matters. Hahn didn’t know that Izzie stole the heart and is furious when Callie tells her the details. She goes to the Chief and he tells Erica to leave it alone, it’s been dealt with. Hahn doesn’t like that answer.
The Residents are all worked up because they learn one of them will be awarded a solo surgery. George is assigned to a robotic patient (controlled by the Chief), and works on saving his life all day long. He realizes that the Chief has been playing with him all day long, and doesn’t know what to think.
Lexie stumbles upon the other interns practicing giving each other IV’s. She finds some cadavers in the morgue and sets them up to practice on. Alex finds them and steals them from her to practice himself.
The Chief asks for Owen’s opinion on who to choose for the solo surgery because he’s got no history or relationship with them. When he asks Callie’s advice, she rambles on a bunch of personal issues. He tells her he wants to know about their medical skills. Meantime, Hunt has been shunning Christina all day and she is getting really pissed off. She says it’s worse than being on Hahn’s service.
Hunt tells the Chief that the residents are undisciplined and isn’t sure if he wants to stay at SGH. He’s offended when Christina, Alex, and Lexie are fighting over who will do what procedure to a patient. When Christina finds him in the on-call room, she explains why she is the best. When her dad died, she tells him her hands felt his heart stop beating.
Bailey finds the room full of corpses and orders them to be sewn back up. She says that even though they are unclaimed, the doctors should claim them and they owe them the respect they deserve.
Hahn tells Callie she’s going to report the heart incident to UNOS, and Callie tells her it’s a bad idea. She says that the doctors in this hospital need to have each other’s backs and it’s not cool to go behind them and ruin someone’s career. Erica replies that you can’t be kind of OK with this and you can’t kind of be a lesbian. Callie says yes she can and Erica storms away claiming she doesn’t know Callie at all.

Dr. Hunt is back and Christina is NERVOUS! She grabs Meredith and they run away from him.
The residents and interns are assigned to a skills lab headed by none other than Dr. Hunt himself. They are all surprised when they learn that they will be practicing their skills on live tissue, not dummies. The live tissue turns out to be live pigs, that have been sedated. Don’t worry, ABC says that no animals were harmed in the taping of the show.
Izzie refuses to work on the pigs calling Hunt a monster after he stabs each of them in the abdomen. He instructs the others to “Go Ahead, Save their lives”.
When they are paged to the ER for a multiple trauma case, Hunt makes Christina and her interns keep the pigs alive until he gets back. She is furious not only because of that, but because Owen seems to have forgotten her name……..even after they made out last time he was at the hospital!
Christina and the interns get emotionally attached to the pigs who crash and they have to perform multiple surgical procedures on them to keep them alive. When Hunt returns, he tells her good job and to “put them out”. She tells him he’ll have to do it himself if he wants them dead.
Alex’s ER patient comes in with a head laceration. Hunt will not let him page Shepherd. Instead, he advises him to use skin glue on the cut. When Derek sees the patient, he’s furious with the way it was handled and tells the chief that “Rambo’s completely out of control.”
Alex asks Izzie if it’s ok if he sleeps with other women. Izzie is utterly offended until she realizes that this is his way of asking if they are an exclusive couple. She’s finally elated.
Callie makes Erica cry after sex and tells her she’s like glasses - being able to see clearly for the first time. Callie freaks out and finds sloan to have some good old fashioned boy-girl sex. She realizes that she likes it both ways. Callie confesses to Erica and they work it out.
Next new episode: 11/6/08 - Rise Up
Derek and Meredith are still cleaning out the office while looking through old boxes. Meredit finds her old Anatomy Jane doll, and it comes in handy with a case Dr. Bailey and her are working on - The case of the inoperable tumor. They also find a box full of diaries from Meredith’s mom…yes, TONS of them.
Back to the inoperable tumor. A 10-year old girl comes in to SGH to have her tumor removed. The mother insists that Erica be on the case as well, and she is very hesitant, bringing a negative attitude to the table, but does agree to help. Meredith uses her Anatomy Jane Doll and figures out that they can remove all of the abdominal organs that are affected by the tumor so they can get to the tumor successfully.
After a successful surgery, Erica tries to take credit from the Chief and Bailey rips her a new one.

Yet another amazing night of Grey’s Anatomy, folks!
All of the residents are gathered up to participate in a “Domino” surgery. 6 couples are involved in a kidney transplant, however, none of them match the person they came with. They are all donating and receiving kidneys from perfect strangers, or so they thought.
One of the donors is believed to be getting paid $10,000 from his father to donate, but Izzie and Alex agree to turn a blind eye so that Seattle Grace can get the publicity.
One of the donors turns out to be the mistress of the recipient and when his wife finds out, she elects not to do the surgery anymore. This causes the domino effect, and none of the other surgeries can go on without her. Dr. Bailey reminds her that while you cannot be coerced into donating your kidney, you can remember that 5 other people’s lives are at stake if she does not go through with the surgery. She changes her mind and the surgery goes on as planned….kind of…
All of the residents ask for a kidney in a jar as a momento of this triumphant occasion, Bailey does not grant their wishes.
On the subject of MerDer, the clinical trial that they did together has been published in a medical journal. Meredith is upset because they are calling it the Shephard Method, and she has no credit given in the article. Derek tells her she doesn’t deserve credit because she has a LOT to learn about being a surgeon.
Meredith is still reading her mom’s diary and realizes that she is not half the surgeon her mother was as a 2nd year resident. During the domino transplant, Meredeth DROPS A KIDNEY!!!!!!!!!! At this point in the evening, my jaw is on the floor, people! Everything turns out OK and the patient has no complications, but Meredith is devastated. Chief tells her to forgive herself, because there’s only so much you can help, and so much you can hurt.
Erica and Callie have “sex”, but the next day, Callie is NOT happy to do it again. She tries to talk to Mark, but he’s turned off about the whole subject. She tells Erica she’s not sure she can do the girl touching thing, but then has a revelation. Finally, she corners him and asks him to show her how to do it, since he’s a genius! She learns the Sloan Method, and finds Erica in the on call room telling her to take her pants off and try it again.
George starts his first day as a resident and Lexie decorates his locker to congratulate him. The Chief tells everyone but Meredith to give George one of their interns, and they cannot decide who. At the end of the day, the chief randomly draws cards and gives George his interns. They do not respect him at all. Lexie is hurt that George didn’t even ask for her to be one of his interns and calls herself an idiot and George a jerk. She tells him to screw off.
Bailey tells Derek that he should at least tell Meredith “Thank You” for all the hard work she did on the clinical trial. He shows up at Joe’s with a gift for her - a kidney in a jar! It seems all is forgiven and MerDer goes home leaving Christina at Joe’s to see Dr. Owen Hunt, who is apparently starting work the next day!
Izzie comes to Alex’s room and tells him she cares about him and she’s not going anywhere until he admits that he cares for her too. She also says that “it’s not too late for us”…….they end up making out.

Last night’s Grey’s was another great one. It started out with the chief “politely” reminding everyone that his new rules are the rules to abide by no matter what.
Derek finds Meredith’s Mom’s diary while cleaning out the office and Meredith freaks out. Derek is afraid that he’s going to get kicked out soon (because of Mer’s history), and tells Sloan there’s no way he’s getting rid of the trailer.
Meredith is assigned to work with Erica and she tells her that she’s done a complicated procedure. She goes searching for Christina in hopes she can help her. Mer finds her in the Dermatology wing of the hospital.
The doctors in the Derm department are relaxed, bored, kind, and there is no drama at all. They even get facials and massages throughout the day. Christina is fascinated with it and spends the bulk of her day there, until one of her patients crashes and she has to rush to the ER.
Callie and Erica are about to go on their date, and Callie is freaking out. She blurts it out to Bailey, who is shocked beyond belief. She ends up giving Callie some good advice about “undiscovered territory.” When Callie expresses her concerns with Erica at dinner, she is totally reassured.
As Izzie and Alex are working in the pit, Izzie discovers something odd about a patient who was hit in the head with a remote control by his wife. Alex quickly takes the patient as his own and gets assigned to the surgery with McDreamy. Izzie is pissed and tells the patient that Alex has been “off his game” lately, and wins back the surgery.
George, still awaiting the results of his intern exam helps an 8 year old boy overcome his fears of being in the hospital and having heart surgery. His parents are amazed at how well they connected and how well the boy responds to George. George asks permission to take him in the OR to show him everything and acquaint him with the procedures……..he accidentally takes him into the wrong OR. They walk in, and there lies Izzie’s brain tumor patient, face peeled halfway off. “Where’d that guy’s face go?” George grabs him, rushes to the correct OR and tells him if he doesn’t tell anyone what just happened he’ll get him whatever he wants for the rest of his life! After that, the boy isn’t afraid and willingly goes ahead with his own surgery.
Alex finally admits he’s been an Ass to Izzie. He says he can’t be mad at crazy chick for losing her mind and there’s no one else to be pissed at but her. Izzie lets go of her resentment.
George finally gets his results (HE PASSED!) and Lexie is so excited to celebrate with him. She is soon disappointed when George rushes to tell Izzie and Meredith. She ends up meeting them at Joe’s but sitting at the bar alone.
Meredith tells Derek that he can have her mom’s office because “she’s not here anymore, You are.” She decides to start reading her mom’s diary, and her and Christina go to Derek’s trailer to read it. They put a sign on the door that reads ”DERMATOLOGY”

Saturday, Ellen Pompeo had lunch with a friend in West Hollywood. She was overheard telling Fred Segal that when she has the baby, she won’t feel like she’s missed any fun. Her reasoning behind this is because she is enjoying married life so much with husband Chris Ivery. They often go to Europe, party, and sleep in.
So far, it hasn’t been confirmed to a respectable source, but good for them!
Congratulations!

Thursday night’s Grey’s Anatomy sure was full of drama! That’s why I love this show so much! Here’s a summary of the events!
Derek tells Izzie that she’s moving out……which freaks her out. She finds a flier for a great new apartment but can’t find a roommate!
Meredith quits therapy because she thinks the whole point of it was to make her happy. She’s finally happy, and decides she doesn’t need it anymore.
Richard sets forth a new set of guidelines for the surgical staff of Seattle Grace. No playing favorites with interns, residents cannot focus on one specialty, and getting emotionally involved with patients is forbidden. He tries to enforce these rules while at the same time dealing with a burst pipe that is wreaking havoc on the surgical wing.
George is supposed to retake his intern exam, but he cannot find a quiet, dry room to take it because of the flooding. He decides to postpone the exam to help the chief with this crisis.
While in the ER, the ceiling collapses on a patient with his abdomen exposed. The chief decides that Dr. Bailey was right in suggesting they move the patients to another hospital until things are under control.
Meredith tells Derek that he can’t kick out “her family”. He agrees to leave it alone for now, but would like to talk about it another time.
Alex is starting to realize that Izzie is someone he likes!

In addition to Dr. Owen Hunt, seen in the season premier played by Kevin McKidd, there will also be another doctor joining the cast played by Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Gallactica), though it’s not for sure yet on how long she will stay.
This season is sure to find fresh faces and new relationships, and I’m sure a whole lot of Drama!
